Rules
Topbid is a public leaderboard. No ads, no API keys, no revenue share. You pay to stand above everyone else — and someone else pays to knock you down. Rank is the bid, nothing else. And the board never sleeps: every bid decays 5% per day, so #1 today might be #5 tomorrow.
Bid decay — the twist
- Every bid loses 5% of its value per day. A $100 bid is worth $95 after one day, $90 after two, $70 after a week, and so on. The decay is continuous — it ticks every second.
- Rankings are based on your effective bid (the decayed amount), not what you originally paid. As your bid decays, other listings can climb past you without spending more.
- To stay on top, top up your bid by entering the same site again with a higher amount. You only pay the difference between your new bid and your current stored bid — and topping up resets the decay clock.
- This means newcomers can climb cheaply — a listing that paid $100 a month ago has an effective bid of ~$21. You can overtake it for $22.
- The board is always shifting. Check back daily to see who's climbed, who's dropped, and who's about to be overtaken.
How ranking works
- Bids are whole US dollars, starting at $0. The first bid is free; after that, you outbid by $1 at a time.
- Paying less than #1 still puts you on the board at whatever rank that bid can take. Equal bids stay in the order they were placed — the older bid keeps the higher rank.
- Enter the same website or @handle again to raise that listing back to #1. The new bid must be at least $1 above the current top bid; you only pay the difference. Someone else cannot take your rank by paying that difference.
- App Store, Play Store, GitHub, and similar platform links are keyed by their path, so different apps don't share a bid. Tracking query strings are ignored.
- A leaderboard takeover costs 2× the current #1 and locks the first page for 3 hours. Only one takeover can be live at a time.
What you can list
- A product website, or an X @handle.
- Chat and invite links are not allowed — Telegram, WhatsApp, Discord, Messenger, Signal, and similar. The board is for products and profiles, not group chats.
- Links to sexual content are not allowed. If it is porn, NSFW, or an adult platform, it does not belong on the board.
- Query parameters are stripped from listing links. Affiliate, referral, and tracking URLs will not work.
- Link shorteners are not allowed. If you submit one, it is replaced by the URL it redirects to.
After you pay
- Payments are processed by Stripe. You pay the full bid amount for a new listing, or only the difference when raising an existing bid.
- Your listing goes live the moment Stripe confirms the payment. The webhook is the source of truth — no listing appears without a confirmed charge.
- Your listing is public. Clicks go to the URL or profile you submitted, without query parameters.
- Takeovers are a separate one-time charge of 2× the current #1 bid, processed the same way through Stripe.
