Pay to rank

Pay-to-rank is simple: you bid to claim your position on a public leaderboard, and the highest bid ranks #1. But topbid.best adds a twist — clicks also boost your rank. Every click on your listing adds $0.10 to your effective score. So you can pay to rank, or you can earn your rank through traffic. Or both. The board is public, auditable, and always shifting.

How pay-to-rank works

Submit your website or social profile, choose your bid amount (minimum $1), and pay through Stripe. Your listing goes live instantly at a rank determined by your bid. To take #1, bid $1 above the current leader. To raise an existing bid, enter the same URL again with a higher amount — you only pay the difference. Bids are in whole US dollars. Equal bids are broken by age: the older bid keeps the higher rank.

Bid decay: the twist that keeps the board alive

Every bid loses 5% of its value per day. A $100 bid is worth $95 after one day, $90 after two, $70 after a week, $21 after a month. Rankings are based on your effective bid (the decayed amount), not what you originally paid. This means stale listings naturally drop over time, and newcomers can overtake them cheaply. To stay on top, top up your bid periodically. This keeps the board dynamic and prevents permanent monopolies at #1.

Clicks: the free way to climb

Every click on your listing adds $0.10 to your effective rank score. 100 clicks = $10 rank boost. A $1 bid with 50 clicks (score: $6) beats a $5 bid with 0 clicks (score: $5). Share your referral link, post it on social media, send it to your email list — every visitor who clicks through to your listing boosts your rank. This means you can climb the board without spending more money, if your content is good enough to attract clicks.

Advanced ranking features

Beyond basic bidding, topbid.best offers: bid boosts (2x your effective bid for 1 hour for $5), click insurance (freeze your bid decay for 24 hours for $10), leaderboard takeovers (lock the first page for 3 hours at 2x the current #1 bid), and premium billboards (guaranteed overhead gantry placement for 24 hours for $25). These features let you strategically time your visibility for maximum impact.

Frequently asked questions

What does pay-to-rank mean?

Pay-to-rank means your position on the leaderboard is determined by how much you pay (your bid). The highest bid ranks #1, the second highest ranks #2, and so on. On topbid.best, clicks also boost your rank — every click adds $0.10 to your effective score, so you can climb by getting traffic as well as by paying.

How much does it cost to rank #1?

To take #1, you need to bid $1 above the current leader's effective bid. If the current #1 has an effective bid of $10, you need to bid $11. You can check the current top bid on the board before submitting. The minimum bid to get on the board at any rank is $1.

What happens when my bid decays?

Your bid loses 5% of its value per day. As your effective bid drops, other listings can climb past you without spending more. To stay on top, top up your bid by entering the same URL again with a higher amount. You only pay the difference between your new bid and your current stored bid, and topping up resets the decay clock.

Can I rank without paying?

You need at least $1 to get on the board. But once you're listed, you can climb for free by getting clicks. Every click adds $0.10 to your rank score. If your listing gets 100 clicks, that's $10 added to your score — enough to climb past listings with higher bids but fewer clicks. Share your referral link to maximize free clicks.
